2016 Annual Meeting

9/28/16 – Annual Meeting

Another year and another great meeting! The Hollywood theme looked wonderful and members seemed to really enjoy themselves this year. Thanks to all the CSI volunteers and staff for helping out with getting the room set up to receive about 500+ CSI members!

The committee met about once a month throughout the summer and were able to plan out an almost flawless luncheon. Over 550 tickets were sold and our quorum in the Michigan region for the meeting came to 510 members. That is an increase from last year!

The conference call with all the regions had a few problems but CSI education coordinators and IT specialist are already troubleshooting solutions for next year.

The committee will reconvene in April of 2017 to start planning the next meeting.

On behalf of the committee I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

Thank you,

Annual Luncheon Planning Committee

Linda Stone

Committee Chairperson

2016 Management Conference

The 2016 Michigan Management Conference was a success. The event took place on August 24th, 25th, and 26th at the Detroit Marriott Troy and nearly 200 members attended. Regional managers from Massachusetts, Maryland, and California were special guests along with 20+ familiar staff members from Michigan. This years theme was “Lights Camera Action. Directing the Co-op.” and everyone that attended played their part in the making of the co-op movie. There was a special focus on leadership which was represented in the various different general session workshops. Thank you to all of the supportive staff and volunteers who helped make this years management conference one of the best ones yet.

LaBelle Towers Co-op Receives Cooperative Star Award

Congratulation to LaBelle Towers Co-op for receiving the Cooperative Star Award from the National Association of Housing Cooperatives! The members at Labelle Towers Co-op volunteer often and with over 50 volunteers, each typically wear many different hats. The volunteers on the leasing committee played a large part in helping the vacancies from 60 to 0! They help give tours, hold open houses, schedule and conduct interviews, sign leases, and perform inspections. Due to this amazing accomplishment, NAHC recognizes them as the Cooperative Star of the year. This award is given to a co-op that displays sound leadership, management, and creates a particular value for its members. LaBelle Towers has demonstrated that it has systems in place to assure prudent preservation of its members’ interests, and it honors the basic principles of cooperative housing, certifies that systems are in place to provide safe, sound and valuable housing and to protect the interests of their members.
