Online Payment Fee Changes category: Current Members Blog

TEMPORARY CHANGE FOR MEMBERS WITH ONLINE RENT PAYMENT FEE: *Online payments by electronic bank transfer, debit card, or credit card have a small fee per transaction. However, safety is our number one priority and due to the pandemic, we were able to get permission for all our regions to temporarily suspend the fee for online rent payments so that members can pay their rent without leaving their apartments. Normally, HUD would not allow this to be paid for out of the co-op’s operating budget. For the months of MAY, JUNE, and JULY 2020, your co-op will pay the fee for you to make your rent payment online.

To summarize your rent payment options:

1. Check or money order by mail.
2. Online: Contact your co-op accountant at 586-753-9002 to get your registration information. There is a small fee per transaction (*waived for residents/members for May-July 2020).
3. Walk-in Payment System (WIPS) at local participating stores. Contact your co-op accountant at 586-753-9002 to request your WIPS number and a list of participating stores near you. There is a small fee to use this service. This fee is NOT waived.

* Excluding Redwood Gardens (California)

Re: Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan category: Current Members Blog

Staff and members: A question came up about the CSI Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan and its expiration (originally set for tomorrow). We have extended the plan through April 30. Our original goals have not changed-- #1: Keep members and staff safe and #2: Do our part to flatten the curve and reduce the burden on healthcare facilities in the communities we live and work in. We will revisit new expiration date just before the end of this month. In the meantime, it is business as (the new) usual.

Regarding Upcoming 2020 Co-op Elections category: Current Members Blog

This afternoon, the board approved a temporary suspension of the standard election procedures with a replacement process (in the interest of safety) for the upcoming 2020 co-op elections, due to the COVID-19 crisis. If you have questions about these procedures, please call your liaison.

The board suspended Article VI for all co-ops for the 2020 election and replace with the following temporary procedure.

Urgent Memo for Members 4/3/20 category: Current Members Blog

The health departments in our communities are so overloaded that they are not always able to tell us which of our co-ops have confirmed COVID-19 cases. We are not able to report when there is a positive case in the co-ops at this point. WE MUST ALL ASSUME THAT THE CORONAVIRUS IS IN ALL OF OUR CO-OPS.

Please refer to your local health department's website to see numbers of positive COVID-19 cases and deaths in your area. These numbers are deceivingly low because not everyone was tested. These numbers are increasing daily. The CDC and local health departments all expect an upsurge in COVID-19 cases and deaths this month.

CDC Guidance on Visitors category: Current Members Blog

The CDC says DO NOT VISIT retirement facilities except to provide critical assistance. California and Michigan have state executive stay-at-home orders. Maryland and Massachusetts have state executive stay-at-home advisories. We know it is hard to not see your loved ones during this crisis, but we need everyone's cooperation in order to keep our members safer. Please let your visitors know that until further notice, we hope everyone will follow the CDC guidelines and state orders/advisories. Only essential visitors should be entering the co-ops in all four of our regions. Essential visitors are those bringing food, prescriptions, and medical services to our members.

We know it is has been weeks since we've been able to see our loved ones, too. Hang in there, cooperators. Be safe and healthy.
